We’re often asked for advice about the best fluoroplastic coating brands to use, and there are a lot to choose from - the best known of which are Teflon™, Xylan®, Greblon®, Tefzel™, Vicote™, Halar®, and Armourcote®. Each brand has a wide range of finishes that are each designed for specific uses, each with its own benefits and advantages.
As you’d expect, the best coating to use depends on what you need it for, and not every off-the-shelf product is going to be right. There will be instances where no branded product is exactly right for the job, in which case you need a company that specialises in customising formulas for the right mix of fluoroplastics (PTFE, FEP, PFA, PEEK, ECTFE and ETFE) in order to create a coating that meets your exacting needs.
Bespoke industrial coating solutions
As part of our PTFE and fluoropolymer coating solutions, we will work with you to get a good understanding of your needs. Once we understand the problem, we can either recommend the best suited coating for the end application and the environment it will be used in, or recommend a bespoke solution. If the latter is the case, we will take the best suited product and use it as the basis to create our own coating formula. In fact, many of our jobs require us to use bespoke coatings to ensure they do the highest quality job, often finding solutions to problems that other suppliers were unable to handle.

Refurbishing hotplates
One example of our work is when a client asked us to refurbish hot plates used in butt fusion and hot plate welding. After removing the old coating, we applied AFC 2128 which we devised as our own successful formula for the hot plate/butt fusion production process. Our coating has been proven to increase the efficiency of production, providing more efficient yields, and thanks to its easy clean surface, it also helps to minimise downtime.
In addition, we have the advantage of speed which has become our superpower. In this instance, we managed to strip, clean and recoat the hotplates in just two days, resulting in minimal downtime for the client.
