HPLC, also known as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography is a technique in analytical chemistry used to separate, identify, and quantify each component in a mixture. It relies on pumps to pass a pressurised liquid solvent containing the sample mixture through a column filled with a solid adsorbent material.
One of the problems these manufacturers face is fittings not staying tight within the equipment due to operational vibrations with the pumps which pressurise the solvents. The equipment must use PTFE due to its inert qualities when exposed to solvents and acids, and also very low friction and non-stick properties which are the fundamental cause of the problem.
