Stainless Steel Filled PTFE, also known as Stainless Steel PTFE Compound, has enhanced mechanical properties by the use of a 50% by weight (or 15% by volume) stainless steel powder filling.
The addition of Stainless Steel to PTFE gives better dimensional stability and lowers creep, cold flow and wear. It increases hardness and compressive strength whilst also increasing thermal and electrical conductivity.
AFT Fluorotec has been processing and supplying Stainless Steel Filled PTFE since its first inception. Whilst not one of the most common filled grades, the increased thermal conductivity and deformation under wear makes it incomparable to other filled grades and unlike many filled PTFE grades, Stainless Steel Filled PTFE is FDA compliant. Our PTFE coatings are also FDA compliant, which makes PTFE ideal for bakeware applications.
Stainless Steel Filled PTFE is extremely hard wearing, has excellent strength and stability under extreme loads and elevated temperatures whilst still retaining the low coefficient of friction of conventional PTFE. It is an extremely versatile product and can be used on steam and thermal Fluid applications.

Stainless Steel Filled PTFE is often used in the production of bushings, slide pads, gaskets, washers, shaft bearings, slide runners, chemical tank linings and electrical insulation parts. It is also an extremely good seat material for use in V-Ball type Flow Control Ball Valve applications due to its high resistance to wear.
