ETFE is a copolymer of Ethylene and TetraFluoroEthylene better known as Tefzel®.
Although not fully fluorinated, ETFE coatings have excellent chemical resistance and can operate at 150°C/300°F. The resins within these coatings are the toughest within the fluoropolymer range and can be applied at film builds up to 1,000 micrometres.
ETFE is considered one of the most durable fluoropolymer coatings, used widely across the chemical, power, energy production, and semiconductor industries. Offering a non-porous chemically resistant film for service up to 149DegC which can be a high build film and FDA approved.

Based on a modified ETFE (Ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene), our ETFE Tefzel coating is designed to give uniform thick or thin, film coatings. Our ETFE coating should be considered for a broad range of applications where the high performance thermal, chemical or electrical properties of a fluoropolymer with outstanding mechanical toughness are needed.
Changes in physical properties by radiation include reduced elongation while tensile strength remains unchanged. Stiffness is increased and electrical losses are increased.

Because ETFE has better mechanical toughness than PTFE, it is often used in the aviation and aerospace industries for wire coatings. It can also be used as a mould-release film due to its high-temperature resistance.
