Using silver as a metal coating is often chosen due to its superior levels of conductivity compared to other materials such as steel and even copper. In a typical application, a coating 250 microns thick of silver would be sprayed.
With its excellent electrical conductivity, it is commonly applied on electricity substations and switchgear, as well as power station charging rotors where extreme or superior conductivity may be required.
